Mubarak Ali was arrested by the Pollachi police on April 5 and lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison in connection with cases registered in three police stations for sale of video compact discs and digital video discs containing pornography or pirated version of new films.
A press release from Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural, N. Kannan said that Inspector General of Police (West Zone) Pramod Kumar had recommended to the Collector that Mubarak Ali could be detained under the Goondas Act because he had repeatedly indulged in this offence.Detained under Goondas Act
