More candidates file nominations

With two more independent candidates filing nomination papers for Pollachi Lok Sabha constituency on Tuesday, the total number of candidates has gone up to eight.In Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency five Independents filed their nominations. So far 14 candidates have filed the papers. Tirupur

The filing of nominations gained momentum in Tirupur Lok Sabha constituency with five persons submitting their nomination papers on Wednesday.

Of the five candidates, K. Rathinaswaamy (35), T. Shakuntala (26), and N. Muthusamy (50) filed their nominations as independents while V. A Gopal (51) and N. Sivakumar (30) submitted their papers representing Akil Indhiya Vallalar Peravai and Uzhaipallar Makkal Katchi, respectively.

All of them filed their nominations with the Returning Officer, C. Samayamoorthy, at the Collectorate.

Observers

Of the three poll observers appointed for Tirupur Lok Sabha constituency, Shiv Bardani Bhadauria, a Sikkim-cadre Indian Forest Service Officer, arrived here today.

Mr. Bhadauria would monitor the election proceedings in Bhavani and Anthiyur Assembly segments.
